The Fredonia women's tennis team escaped Alfred University with a 5-4 win on Monday to stay unbeaten, improving to 5-0.
Anna Chiacchia (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) won No. 1 singles 6-0 and 6-0 and Olivia Miller (Springwater, N.Y. / Wayland-Cohocton) took No. 2 singles, 6-3 and 6-2.
Jane Chiacchia (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) won at No. 3 singles 6-4 and 6-2.
Avril King (Naples, N.Y. / Naples) was the other singles winner, taking No. 5 at 6-1 and 6-0.
Anna Chiacchia and Miller won No. 1 doubles, 8-4.
Mallory Mecca (Derby, N.Y. / Eden) fell in No. 4 singles, 6-1 and 6-2, and Anna Clark (Rome, N.Y. / Rome Free Academy) dropped sixth singles, 6-2 and 6-2.
Afred won at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Jane Chiacchia and Mecca dropped their game 8-4, and King and Clark lost 8-5.
The Devils play host to Houghton College at 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
