On Monday, Feb. 23, at the next International Brown Bag luncheon, Ellie Reddy (College of Education) will talk about the Belize Project, which is an international service-learning experience for Fredonia students. The event is located in Fenton Hall Room 127 (English Reading Room). All are welcome.

Three trips to Belize have been completed as of January 2009. The Project has two major components. During the Fall semester, students take a course which prepares them for their Belize experience by familiarizing them with the country. In addition, the course also has our students preparing for their specific classroom teaching activities in Belize City, Belize.   The students develop materials which they will be using there and which, after having modeled their use, are left with their cooperating teachers in Belize.

Students participating in the Belize Project have come from a wide range of majors including Early Childhood, Childhood Education, Adolescent Education, Music Education, Music Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology, English, and Social Work. A total of 39 Fredonia students have traveled to Belize as a part of the Project’s work over the past three years.
