An informational meeting that details SUNY Fredonia’s Enactus, formally known as Students in Free Enterprise, or SIFE, will be offered to interested students on Monday, Feb. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Williams Center Room G103B.
Speakers will discuss the group’s purpose and ongoing team projects, followed by a question and answer session. Refreshments will be provided.
Enactus is an international non-profit organization that brings together student, academic and business leaders who are committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. Students who are involved in Enactus are able to gain real world experience, start a great career, and represent their university. Past SUNY Fredonia students have obtained jobs with Hershey, ADP, Schwans, and other large national companies due to their involvement with the group.
Each year, Fredonia’s team competes in regional and national competitions that showcase their work. April 2013 marked the group’s 16th consecutive Regional Championship title as they competed against over 70 other universities in Chicago, Ill. This year, they will attend the regional and national competition April 1 to 3 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The team meets weekly and is currently looking for new members with a background in computer programming, graphic design skills, and/or an interest in environmental issues. All SUNY Fredonia students are welcome. Interested students who are unable to attend the event are still encouraged to apply.
