The SUNY Fredonia Enactus team has set its sights on winning its 16th consecutive Enactus regional championship at the Enactus competition that will attract students from several hundred universities from across the country to Chicago on Friday, April 12.
Six team members – Greg Minchak, Christina Bakos, Chelsea Patterson, Briana Noto, Kayla Wojciechowski, and Chris Jung – will give a presentation that highlights seven major projects that the SUNY Fredonia team conducted during the academic year.
These impressive projects included: Greenwave, which focused on helping local businesses go green; Fred20, which created a sustainable water bottle; Recycle Ink; High School Bridges, a leadership team that worked with high schools in the community; Life is Fragile, which focused on an anti-bullying campaign in elementary schools; Think Before You Act, which has been working with college and high school students to make positive decisions and pledge not to drink and drive; and the Cradle Beach team, which has been working with Cradle Beach to build awareness of the initiative to serve disabled and disadvantaged youth.
The Enactus Expo, designed to showcase the projects and educate the Fredonia community about the organization and its mission, will also be part of the presentation.
Beyond individual projects, Enactus also worked this year to create a foundation for sustainability within the team and forged many relationships with business partners in the community.
Enactus, formerly SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise), is a community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world. A global organization, Enactus has chapters in schools across the world that create projects within their communities.
