What’s it like to attend college?
High school students pondering this important question can get the inside track on the collegiate experience on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Fredonia Exploration Day.
“Fredonia Exploration Day is designed to spark academic excitement, become familiar with the campus and learn about all of the unique opportunities that are offered to our students,” explained State University of New York at Fredonia Director of Admissions Cory Bezek.
Fredonia President Virginia Horvath will welcome students and their families at the opening session in King Concert Hall, located in Michael C. Rockefeller Arts Center, at 11 a.m. Mr. Bezek and Fredonia senior James Lillin will also offer remarks.
Mini-classes will introduce students to topics that span the liberal arts spectrum. The sessions include topics in Environmental Science, Psychology, Literature, Physics, Business, Mathematics and Criminal Justice. Following the mini-class presentations, students and family members will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from each academic area as well as various student services. Campus tours will also be offered.
Registration for Fredonia Exploration Day will begin at 10 a.m. in King Concert Hall.
Students who are interested in learning more about majors within Visual Arts and New Media or the Natural Sciences can participate in an optional information session to be held earlier in the day. Guests can register between 8:45 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. in King Concert Hall for either “Science: Up Close!” or “Visual Arts and New Media: Behind the Scenes!”
Faculty and currently enrolled students will discuss their respective academic programs while escorting guests through Fredonia’s newly renovated Rockefeller Arts Center or Science Center, highlighting beautiful studio spaces and state of the art scientific equipment.
“Science: Up close!” and “Visual Arts and New Media: Behind the Scenes!” will begin at 9:30 a.m. Guests will be escorted by faculty and students to their respective sessions.
Registration for Fredonia Exploration Day can be made at events.fredonia.edu. Registration for the optional morning sessions, “Visual Arts and New Media: Behind the Scenes!” and “Science: Up Close!” can also be completed at events.fredonia.edu.
