Fredonia junior Brittany Feldman (Jamestown/Southwestern) set a school indoor record in the women's 400 meters during Saturday's Tufts Final Qualifier.

Feldman's 57.05 seconds has her setting at No. 8 on qualifying list for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field championship meet next weekend in Napierville, Ill. She started the weekend at No. 15. The top 17 women in each event are invited to the national meet.

The record Feldman broke was her own, a 57.16 at last March's NCAA D-III indoor meet. She has run the distance faster outdoors (55.65 seconds). Her indoor season-best before Saturday was 57.31 seconds.

Three other Devils completed at Tufts. On the women's side, junior Sarah Couperus (Marion, N.Y./Marion) finished sixth in the triple jump at 10.45 meters (34 feet, 3 1/2 inches). She also competed in the women's high jump. In the men's 35-pound weight throw, senior Kyle Brown (Hamburg, N.Y.) finished fifth with a toss of 16.59 meters (54 feet, 5 1/4 inches). In the men's pole vault, junior Justyn Haines (Albion, N.Y.) cleared 4.51 meters (14 feet, 8 1/2 inches).
