Sarah T. Schwab, Women's Studies Graduate Assistant, announced that  the annual Women Take Aim Film Series will begin Tuesday, Oct. 30, with the film, "Zero Degrees of Separation," and its director Elle Flanders. Ms. Schwab noted, "The women's studies program is doing this event a little different this year. Instead of just showing recent documentaries, we have arranged to have each filmmaker present for the viewing of her film. After, she will lead a discussion with the audience about her documentary. Very exciting!"

All films will be shown at 7:30 - 9:30 p.m., Tuesdays in Fenton 105.

  • Tuesday, Oct. 30: "Zero Degrees of Separation;" shown and discussed by the director, Elle Flanders.  This film looks at the Middle East conflict and the Palestinian Occupation through the eyes of Palestinian and Israeli gay and lesbian couples.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 6: "Maria's Grotto;" shown and discussed by the director Buthina Canaan Khoury.  The film is about Honor Killings in Palestine, a fate faced by many Middle Eastern women that is a subject considered taboo for discussion.
