Daniel Tramuta |
SUNY Fredonia Associate Vice President of Enrollment Services Daniel Tramuta, ’78, has received the William A. Troy Service Award, the highest honor given by the State University of New York Financial Aid Professionals (SUNYFAP).
The award, available to both current and past SUNYFAP members, is only presented in years that the committee feels a deserving individual merits the honor. It is given to individuals with a significant long-term commitment to SUNYFAP as well as the financial aid profession.
The William A. Troy Service award was started by the creator of SUNYFAP, William Troy, also a native to western New York. Troy is said to have had played a dramatic role in the financial aid arena both in the state and on a national scale.
Nominated secretly by the SUNY Fredonia Financial Aid Officer staff, Tramuta was recognized at the annual SUNYFAP conference dinner on April 23, and presented with a plaque. His name has also been added to the perpetual plaque maintained by the organization.
"That really made it so much more special for me, on top of my staff nominating me," Tramuta said. "It was a very special night for me; one I will remember the rest of my life."
Tramuta was appointed as the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Services in 2005. In January 2000, he served as the Director of Financial Aid and in January 2003, the university reorganized and appointed him to a leadership post as the interim director of both admissions and financial aid. Before becoming associate director of financial aid in 1992, Tramuta was the senior financial advisor since 1986. He was formerly a residence hall director, assistant varsity basketball coach and varsity men’s tennis coach. He has earned a bachelor's and master's degree in education from Fredonia.
"Dan is most deserving of the award," said Vice President of Student Affairs David Herman. "We are very proud of him and the entire Financial Aid Office staff."
SUNYFAP, Inc. is an individual membership association, made up of practicing Financial Aid Professionals from the SUNY system, acting as liaisons between Financial Aid personnel and related college and high school administrators.
