New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, State Senator Cathy Young, State Assemblyman Andy Goodell, County Executive Vince Horrigan, Fredonia Mayor Steve Keefe, and SUNY Fredonia President Virginia Horvath invite employees to participate in the Chautauqua County Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program.
Training is slated for Thursday, April 24 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. (doors open at 8:30 a.m.) in the Williams Center. Employees are asked to please check with their supervisor if they are interested in participating in this important training.
To register for the training, please go to: http://prepare.ny.gov/training-events.
The two-hour program will provide attendees with the tools and resources necessary to prepare, respond and recover from emergencies and natural disasters. The program will also connect Chautauqua County residents to our community's key emergency service organizations. Each participant will receive a N.Y.S. Disaster Preparedness Kit.
In his 2014 State of the State Address, Gov. Cuomo committed to training 100,000 New Yorkers in emergency preparedness, “Our first responders displayed incredible skill and dedication during Hurricane Irene, Tropical Storm Lee and Hurricane Sandy. Through the Citizen Preparedness Corps, New Yorkers will also be better prepared to help their communities. Our goal of training 100,000 New Yorkers to be their own first responder in their communities will make New York even more equipped to face future challenges.”
Come join in helping New York State have the most well-trained, best-prepared citizenry in the country!
