“Growing up in the area, I have witnessed many changes that have reshaped the economic and cultural landscape of Chautauqua County over the past 30 years. This region and the people in it have been a major influence on my development as an artist and a person,” said Mr. Leone. “The incubator is fostering exactly the kind of development that this region needs to sustain its vitality and realize its full potential. It is a wonderful opportunity to be able to work with them.”

Leone’s work has been exhibited throughout the country at museums and galleries including Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Carnegie Museum of Art, La Vie Gallery, Venice Projects, North Adams Contemporary Artists Center, Studio Blomster (Guerneville, Calif.) and 3rd on 3rd Gallery in Jamestown, where he co-curated the 2014 exhibition “Strange Allure.”

Leone grew up on a grape farm in Fredonia and began exhibiting in the area at the age of 14. In 1993, he commenced an intensive study program in painting and art history with SUNY Distinguished Professor of Painting Alberto Rey that would last four years. He went on to receive the Chancellor’s Scholarship from Syracuse University, where he studied painting and art history from 1997 to 1999. Following his time at Syracuse, Leone traveled extensively and would live and work in Philadelphia, Pa.; North Adams, Mass.; Pittsburgh, Pa., and Los Angeles, Calif., where he held the position of Associate Director at the acclaimed ACE Gallery Beverly Hills. Leone has received numerous awards for his work including the Syracuse University Crouse College Commemorative Award and the National Society of Arts and Letters Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts.
