The classic 19th century French play “Dormez, je le veux,” by Georges Feydeau, will be performed by students enrolled in French Drama in Practice on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 8 p.m., at Diers Hall. A video of a short play written and produced by the students will also be presented. The program is free and open to the public.
Feydeau was a French playwright of the era known as the Belle Époque. He is remembered for his many lively farces. His plays are seen today as precursors to Surrealist and Dada theatre, and the Theatre of the Absurd. They have been continuously revived and are still performed today, 17 of which have been performed on Broadway from 1895 to 1992.
