Following its annual tradition, the Student Association’s Budget and Appropriations (B&A) committee recently held “B&A Week,” where it created the preliminary $1.4 million budget for the Student Association in 2012. That budget will fuel more than 150 student groups and organizations on campus, all organized under the managing umbrella of the Student Association.
The B&A Committee will present the budget March 3 to the General Assembly, where it will be voted on by the 36 student class representatives. After this process is completed, Nate Zager, Student Association Comptroller, and Vince Gugino, Student Association General Manager, will present the finalized budget to Student Affairs Vice President David Herman, Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs Monica White, and President Dennis L. Hefner.
The Student Association is funded by the Student Activity Fee, which is part of every enrolled student's total bill for studying at SUNY Fredonia. Students pay a $93 activity fee every semester, making possible all of the funding for the student groups on campus. Some examples are: Fred Fest, The Leader, intramurals, the campus bus system, and many travel expenses as students attend pre-professional meetings around the country.
