Director of Reed Library Randy Gadikian and Associate Professor Birger Vanwesenbeeck of the Department of English are credited in a new French documentary on Stefan Zweig that aired on the French national TV channel Arte earlier this year.
The documentary, “Stefan Zweig: Histoire d’un Européen” (Stefan Zweig: History of a European), showcases many documents from Reed Library’s Stefan Zweig Collection and tells the dramatic story of Zweig’s life from his childhood in turn-of-the-century Vienna to his death in Petropolis, Brazil. It also features rare surviving footage of Zweig including his participation in the 80th birthday party organized for Sigmund Freud.
The documentary may be viewed in full at youtube.com/watch?v=Kp3_F3AVisg.
The fourth edition of “Zweig at Fredonia” is slated for this fall. Faculty and students wishing to receive updates about these and other events related to Fredonia’s Stefan Zweig Collection may sign up for the Zweig Fredonia blog at zweigatfredonia.com/about-2/.
