Fredonia State has appointed P.J. Gondek as assistant director of athletics, in addition to his duties as head coach of men's soccer.
In joining the Blue Devils' senior management team, Gondek will supervise part-time coaches and facilities staff. He has coordinated the department's purchasing and budgeting for the past three years and has served as men's soccer head coach since the fall of 2000.
"P.J. has been," Director of Athletics Jerry Fisk said, "a tremendous resource for the department in his work with purchasing. He has also been an asset for me during my first eight months at Fredonia."
"I'd like to thank Jerry Fisk for this opportunity," Gondek said. "I appreciate his trust in me and look forward to serving the department under his leadership. I would also like to thank Director of Athletics Emeritus Greg Prechtl for recognizing my potential by giving me additional responsibilities three years ago."
The appointment, effectively immediately, brings Blue Devil athletics back up to three administrators – Fisk, Gondek, and Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator Angela Pucciarelli, who joined the department earlier this month.
"Moving back to three administrators," Fisk said, "will really benefit our department and our student-athletes."
