Fredonia, N.Y. — The SUNY Fredonia School of Music will present an oboe master class featuring guest artist Jared Hauser on Monday, March 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Mason Hall Room 1002. Hauser will work with current oboe students, and interested community members are invited to observe.
Hauser holds degrees from the University of Michigan, the Oberlin Conservatory and Rice University. His principal teachers include James Caldwell, Robert Atherholt, Alex Klein, Elizabeth Camus, Dan Stolper, Harry Sargous and SUNY Fredonia’s own Mark Dubois.
Jared Hauser's performing career has taken him throughout North America and Europe appearing as soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. Appointed principal oboist of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra in 2002, he has been a featured soloist with the OPO on numerous occasions. Hauser has also appeared as soloist with such diverse groups as the Bournemouth Symphonette at the Isle of Wight International Oboe Festival, Bella Baroque, and the Orchestra of Northern New York among others. His other orchestral credits include performing with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Naples Philharmonic, the Palm Beach Opera Orchestra and the Michigan Opera Theater.
A recipient of numerous awards, Hauser has received top prizes at the 2001 Isle of Wight International Oboe Competition (the only American prize winner in the competition's history) and the 2000 Detroit Symphony Orchestra Bradlin Competition. Some of his performances have been broadcast on NPR's "Performance Today", CBC/Radio Canada and BBC Radio 3, and performances can also be heard on recordings from the Koch International, Naxos, Blue Griffin Records, AUR, and Phoenix labels.
