"Cultural and Linguistic Identity of Transnational Children," will be presented Monday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. in the Horizon Room of the Williams Center by Omar Nunez Mendez, of Oaxaca, Mexico.
He is delivering the guest lecture as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. Omar works with children of migrant families who live between two cultures, between two languages. Omar is also the director of Centro Ollin, where Fredonia students go every summer to study Spanish and work with indigenous communities.
Last summer, students helped with this mural in an indigenous community, designed and painted by the children. Light refreshments will be served. Sponsored by TESOL Program, Latinos Unidos, and Latino Studies/ Interdisciplinary Studies. Free admission.
