Three leading radio-industry insiders, including legendary rock promoter Bruce Moser -- who broke U2 to a national audience -- will lead a panel discussion devoted to the current state of the radio business at SUNY Fredonia on Tuesday, April 3, 6:15 p.m., at G24 McEwen.
Moser, a University of Buffalo graduate and co-founder of Buffalo-based Could Be Wild Promotions, also introduced The Cars, Bryan Adams, Melissa Etheridge, Tom Petty and the Goo Goo Dolls to wider audiences. He put these groups on the map by toiling in the trenches along the thruway chain -- between Boston and Cleveland -- getting airplayfor his groups in key markets and their records onto store shelves.
He is a 2006 inductee into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame.
Joining Moser on the Western New York-flavored panel to share their insight into the radio industry and how musicians receive airplay will be Shannon Steele, program director and weekday afternoon host, Kiss 98; and Anita West, on-air talent for 97 Rock and WBFO’s Sunday night blues host.
The panel discussion, sponsored the Music Industry Club at SUNY Fredonia, is free and open to the public.
