FREDONIA, N.Y. — January 16, 2009 — SUNY Fredonia is hosting an informational meeting on its “3-1-3 Program” on Wednesday, Feb. 4. The meeting, taking place at 7 p.m. in Room 209 of McEwen Hall, will explain the popular streamlined degree program through which students spend their senior year of high school taking college courses at SUNY Fredonia.

The 3-1-3 Program is designed to allow students from local high schools to graduate from SUNY Fredonia in just three years instead of the traditional four-year cycle. As the program’s name suggests, students attend three years of high school, a transitional year in which the student is simultaneously enrolled at both SUNY Fredonia and their current high school, and then three years at the university.

SUNY Fredonia will give college-level credits for successful completion of select high school courses while the high schools award credits for certain courses completed at SUNY Fredonia.

The meeting will be most relevant for students who are currently in their junior year of high school, although underclassmen are also welcome to attend. Representatives from the university’s offices of Admissions and Financial Aid, in addition to area high school guidance counselors, current 3-1-3 students and 3-1-3 program staff, will all be available to answer questions and share their experiences.

There is no cost to attend. Interested high school students and their parents can contact 3-1-3 Program Director Liza Smith at 716-673-3550 for more information, visit www.fredonia.edu/tlc, or speak with their local high school guidance counselors.
