Laughter is expected to take center stage when the Kaleidoscope Family Series at SUNY Fredonia’s Rockefeller Arts Center presents Avner the Eccentric in “Exceptions to Gravity” on Friday, April 15 at 7 p.m. in Marvel Theatre.
A recent inductee of the International Clown Hall of Fame, Avner Eisenberg has been performing professionally for more than 30 years. His new show, “Exceptions to Gravity,” brings slapstick gags, illusions and a host of amazing feats together under one common theme – fun.
“Exceptions to Gravity” is approximately 60 minutes and recommended for ages 6 to 96.
Eisenberg has performed on Broadway, television and stages around the world. Recognized as a vaudeville performer, clown, mime, juggler and sleight-of-hand magician, he is perhaps best known for his portrayal of The Jewel, the scene-stealing holy man in “The Jewel of the Nile” co-starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.
Tickets are available through the SUNY Fredonia Ticket Office in the Williams Center, by phone at 716-673-3501 (1-866-441-4928) or online at www.fredonia.edu/tickets.
This Kaleidoscope Family Series event is part of the 2010-11 Lake Shore Savings Season. The event is sponsored by Mark and Michelle Twichell.
In addition to being an acclaimed performer, Eisenberg is one of the world’s leading teachers of physical comedy. A permanent faculty member at the Celebration Barn Theater, Maine’s International School for the Performing Arts, he has also taught eccentric performing and clowning workshops in the United States, Switzerland, France, Germany, Finland, Spain, Mexico, and Japan.
