Aromas from foods representing cultures from around the globe will entice students to try new cuisine at the annual International Dinner to be served Wednesday, March 11, at Marketplace at Erie by FSA. Serving begins at 4:30 p.m. Extra staff will be on duty to help accommodate a larger dinner turnout of students. The dinner is covered through the campus meal plans but the public is welcome to pay cash at the door.

Countries to be represented at this dinner include: Ireland, Germany, Japan, Spain, India and China. On the menu will be: bratwurst, seafood paella, spinach, bean and red lentil curry, gnocchi in fontina sauce, vegetarian collard greens, veal marsala and sushi, among others. Tiramisu and German chocolate cake highlight dessert offerings.

"Through the years we have done a lot of different dinners and special events at Erie. It’s exciting and it gives the students a break from the every day routine,” said Marketplace at Erie manager Tracy Raczka.

In addition to providing opportunities for students to savor entrees that are not part of the standard Erie fare, international dinners also appeal to various ethnic groups on campus.

Theme dinners have proven to be popular with students for many years, Ms. Raczka said, pointing to large turnouts generated by Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day meals. “We’re hoping to increase the number of special events we do here,” she added.
