Visual Arts and New Media Professor Jill Johnston-Price will speak at the fifth Kalamazoo Animation Festival International (KAFI), a biennial animation festival and educators conference. The event will take place from May 14 to 17 in Kalamazoo, Mich.

“The list of speakers is diverse,” says Professor Johnston-Price. “I am honored to be included with the other 44 speakers, which range from animators working in the film, game and independent animation industry, as well as music composers, producers, and recruiters within the animation discipline.”

The weekend will be filled with international film screenings, educator’s conference, educational forums, panel presentations, various child-friendly family events, and recruiting and networking events. In addition to these events there will be a film competition with $15,000 in prizes to be awarded.

Since its beginning in 2002, KAFI has become one of the top 20 animated film festivals in the world. This year the international screenings were chosen from 555 film submissions. In 2007, the festival attracted more than 500 entries from 37 different countries.
