Jill Johnston-Price, assistant professor of Animation and Illustration at SUNY Fredonia’s Department of Visual Arts and New Media, is one of 22 electronics artists from New York State selected to receive a Finishing Funds grant from the Experimental Television Center.
The grant will support her piece, “Rheumers,” an installation of multiple screens and animated loops with sound, which will be presented at Pixilerations v.7, a showcase of digital media that investigates the state of new media arts through installations, concert performances and film/video screenings.
Sponsored by Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design, Pixilerations v. 7 is part of the larger FirstWorks Festival, a multimedia performing arts festival, to be held Sept. 30 to Oct. 10 in Providence, R.I. The innovative works of more than 60 artists from around the world were presented at Pixilerations v. 6.
Partial financial support for Finishing Funds is provided by the New York State Council of the Arts and mediaThe foundation inc., a supporter of not-for-profit organizations that focus on new media performance arts, development of new media content and humanitarian and environmental causes.
Johnston-Price has an MFA in Cinematography from the University of South Florida. Her 11 independent films, including seven animations, have been screened at international film festivals at more than a dozen countries around the world as well as at numerous national festivals and exhibitions.
