Nicki Peets and her students
Junior Nicki Peets, above center, lived in Fraijanes, Guatemala, for two months this summer, where she taught music as therapy to needy children. She is majoring in music education major and minoring in Spanish at SUNY Fredonia. 

During the summer, In the middle of this third world, poverty-stricken, crime-ridden country, she became the music teacher at the orphanage, “Casa Bernabé,” where the Guatemalan government sends the most abused, neglected or abandoned children.

Casa Bernabé serves as a treatment facility where Peets incorporated music to help aid the children’s healing through general music, band, performing arts, and voice lessons.
