The Entrepreneurial Education Series at the Fredonia Technology Incubator will continue with a workshop led by Hodgson Russ LLP senior associates Jordan Walbesser and Jaclyn Hamlin, which will explore legal issues pertaining to businesses and offer tips and guidelines, on Wednesday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to noon.
"We are thrilled to have these two experts at the incubator to provide valuable information to entrepreneurs," said Chuck Cornell, incubator director. "This workshop provides a great opportunity for our clients at the incubator and anyone in the community that is interested in gaining more knowledge of these issues."
The workshop, which is offered at no cost, is designed for incubator clients, entrepreneurs in the community and university students, staff and faculty.
From intellectual property and incorporation to labor and employment, both guest speakers will be able to break the ice on legal issues to ensure startup businesses know the correct guidelines to follow to ensure success. They are based in the Buffalo office of Hodgson Russ, one of the largest law firms in the country, and have helped many startup companies succeed.
Topics to be covered include engaging independent contractors, hiring the first employees, patent and trademark issues for startups and how to select and organize a corporate entity for a startup. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions as discussions are encouraged.
The link, legalissuesworkshop.eventbrite.com, which also appears on the incubator home page at www.fredonia.edu/incubator/, can be used to register for the workshop. Seating is limited. The incubator is located at 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk.
