Vice President for Academic Affairs Virginia Horvath announced that the professional education programs at SUNY Fredonia have been fully accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

“Hearty congratulations to Dean Christine Givner, faculty in the College of Education and the Professional Education Unit, Assessment Committee, ITS, and everyone else across campus who has been involved in this significant accomplishment,” Vice President Horvath said.

“The reviewers’ enthusiastic comments at the exit interview made clear that they were offering a positive recommendation to the Unit Accreditation Board, but this confirmation is a cause for celebration.”

Through the process of professional accreditation of schools, colleges and departments of education, NCATE works to make a difference in the quality of teaching, teachers, school specialists and administrators throughout the U.S. Its performance-based system of accreditation fosters competence in the classroom and excellence in the American educational system.
