The first event in a new lecture series, “Diversity as Personal Responsibility,” will be held Thursday, Sept. 19 at 3 p.m. at the Reed Library garden area.

"Deconstructing Racism on SUNY Fredonia’s Campus,” will include a panel discussion with Assistant Professor Brian Boisvert of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures; Assistant Professor Guangyu Tan of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction; Associate Professor Anna Thibodeau, chair of the Department of Language, Learning and  Leadership; and Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Monica White. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Bill Boerner of the campus Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

The session will look to continue the conversations regarding diversity explored by Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings during her visit to campus in August. Invited faculty and staff panelists will discuss what they took from Dr. Ladson-Billing's visit as well as explore the current environment regarding racial diversity on the SUNY Fredonia campus.

The event is sponsored by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Professional Development Center.
