Basic information workshops to help students learn more about how they can use the new student activities website, FSU4U, will be held by the Campus Life Office on Feb. 1, 2, 4, and 9. FSU4U was unveiled on campus last fall by the Campus Life Office. The website allows the more-than-160 student groups on campus to create their own personalized pages to attract members, advertise events and communicate more efficiently.
It also allows students to record their extracurricular activities semester by semester, so that they can produce a transcript of their activities when they graduate, using it for resumes or applications.
“We are excited about FSU4U," said Erin Mroczka of the Campus Life Office. "We hope the workshops will take the mystery out of the new tool. This is a great new technology that will connect students together in a different way,” she added.
The tool is offered by collegiatelink.net.
The first two workshops, Tuesday, Feb. 1 and Wednesday, Feb. 2, are aimed at helping students register on FSU4U and learn how to personalize their accounts. Students will also learn how to use the website to identify their interests and how to join groups on campus.
The last two workshops, Friday, Feb. 4 Wednesday, Feb. 9, focus more on groups being able to manage their organizational pages, which allow them to e-mail members, take polls, hold online elections, and link up FSU4U to Facebook as another way of advertising events.
"Not only is FSU4U a great way for groups to advertise themselves, but also for incoming students who can check out different groups and organizations and find out what they might be interested in before they get to Activities Night," Ms. Mroczka said. "A great application for students is the, My Involvement Page, which keeps track of a student’s participation. At the end of a student’s time at Fredonia they can print out an official transcript that contains groups and activities they were involved in during their time at Fredonia."
The workshops are free and held in S-104 Williams Center on these dates:
* Tuesday, Feb. 1; 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
* Wednesday, Feb. 2; 3 to 4 p.m.
* Friday, Feb. 4; 4 to 5 p.m.
* Wednesday, Feb. 9; 5 to 6 p.m.
