An interactive panel and exhibition of SUNY Fredonia’s students and staff will present examples of creative projects completed by more than 10 students in literature and language classes in the English and Modern Languages departments. Along with presenting examples, the panel will be sharing ideas for future projects that use creativity and critical thinking.
The panel will take place Wednesday, March 9 at 4 p.m. in the Reed Library, next to the Japanese Garden. It is free and open to students, faculty and staff.
“While showing our students projects, we want to emphasize how instructors can and should encourage students engaged in these creative projects to learn about literature, language, culture and the creative processes at the basis of people’s intellectual production,” says Chiara De Santi, instructor in the Modern Languages department. “We are looking for those who are open to discuss and learn different ways to use creativity in the classrooms and look at it from different perspectives and disciplines.”
Faculty involved include Jeanette McVicker, Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Natalie Gerber from the English department and Carmen Rivera and Chiara De Santi from the Modern Languages department.
The following students will present their projects at the panel:
- Gina Lanfranchi
- Amanda Rogers
- Eamon Rayhn
- Jennifer Benson
- Aaron Brewster
- Doreen Bumpus
- Melissa (Dell) Mallaber
- Matthew Samuelson
- Tara Escudero
- Sara Shinder
- Carly Salzberg
