President Dennis L. Hefner announced that the faculty will expand by an additional 11 tenure-track positions this fall, as a result of recent budget approvals at the state and SUNY level. "The SUNY Board of Trustees passed a budget for next year that fully covers SUNY Fredonia’s proposed 2006-07 Consolidated Operating Budget," President Hefner said.
The Fredonia budget provides for an additional 100 full-time students and an additional 10 staff lines (four in Academic Affairs, three in Administration, two in University Advancement, one in Student Affairs). The 11 new faculty come from seven temporary positions to be converted to permanent, and four new positions.
The additional faculty will be added in Fall 2006 to teach courses in the following disciplines:
- Computer Science
- Education-Literacy
- English Education
- History
- Music (2)
- Physical Education
- Psychology
- Speech Pathology & Audiology (2)
- Theatre & Dance
President Hefner said he is still waiting word on capital construction projects that will be funded. Additionally, he announced that TAP (Tuition Assistance Program) funding was fully restored and the EOP (Educational Development Program at SUNY Fredonia) programs received full funding.
