Over $500 in cash prizes will be given to first and second place winners of SUNY Fredonia's Fourth Annual Public Speaking Competition, to be held Monday, April 14 from 6 to 10 p.m. in McEwen Hall Rooms 202 and 209. Students should register now to compete either by requesting a registration form from Katie Fuchs or by stopping at the table set up on the ground floor of McEwen Hall on April 3, 7, and 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There is a $5 registration fee, which is collected at the time of registration, but RETURNED to speakers after they complete their speech.
The competition will consist of SUNY Fredonia students presenting informative and persuasive speeches to a panel of judges. There will be a first and second place winner in the informative category, as well as in the persuasive category.
First place prize in either category is $200 cash and second place in either category is $100 cash.
The competition is being organized by the Applied Communication Association and Public Relations Student Society of America, and is sponsored by the Corydon Crowell Memorial Fund through the Fredonia College Foundation, and Golden Key International Honor Society.
