Soprano Flanigan is a commanding soprano whom The New York Times compared to Maria Callas. A consummate performer, Ms. Flanigan made headlines by substituting, with no stage rehearsal, for Aprile Millo at the Metropolitan Opera in "I Lombardi," opposite Luciano Pavarotti. She repeated the performance six more times, one of which was televised. Among her many credits, she has sung with the San Francisco Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Seattle Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, and is a favorite at New York City Opera. Her European credits include Abigalle in Verdi’s "Nabucco," performed at Milan’s La Scala.
President Hefner has been chief executive officer at SUNY Fredonia since 1996. He also serves the community as a member of the board of directors for Brooks Memorial Hospital (Vice Chair) in Dunkirk; the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce; and the Chautauqua Integrated Delivery System. He serves as a member of the SUNY Chancellor’s Council of Presidents. He chairs AASCU’s Teacher Education Committee, serves on the Christa McAuliffe Award Selection Committee, and is a member of the NCAA’s Division III Presidents’ Advisory Council.
