Register by November 1 to take an art and architecture tour of London, England, Jan. 5 to 15. Cost: $2000. |
Cutline: Dr. Daniel Reiff in the British Museum.
A tour of the art and architecture of one of the worlds’ greatest – and oldest – cities, London, England, will be led January 5 to 15, 2008, by SUNY Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus Daniel Reiff of the Department of Visual Arts and New Media at SUNY Fredonia.
Over a career of 30 years, Dr. Reiff taught courses on European art and architectural history at Fredonia, and has visited and researched in London on many occasions. He will lead the tour to major historic sites, buildings, and museums in London, as well as a day-trip to one of the great cathedral cities. The tour surveys the art and architecture largely in a chronological sequence during the Roman period, the Romanesque and Gothic eras of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and Baroque movements, and also visits key monuments from the 19th and 20th centuries. Works of art from these eras that are in the famous museums of London will also be seen. There will be time for personal shopping, and evenings are left free for concerts, shows, return visits to museums and galleries, or other activities.
The tour is open to students as well as members of the community, but all participants are required to register for academic credit. Students must register and pay for 3 credit hours, and community members must register and pay for 1 credit hour.
The cost of the program is $2,000 which includes round trip airfare from New York City to London, hotel/airport transfers, accommodations (double rooms), daily breakfast, instructional materials, entrance fees, the full day excursion outside the city of London, and subway and bus passes. The program fee is in addition to the cost of course registration.
The deadline for registration is Nov. 1, but late registrations may be considered.
