Dr. Bond Benton, professor in the department of communication, will continue the presentations by SUNY Fredonia scholars at the International Brown Bag Lunch series when he presents his remedy to Anti-Americanism based on his research into the American “brand.”

The presentation, entitled, "Marketing Brand America,"  will take place in Fenton Hall 127 on Monday, Feb. 7 at 12 p.m. The event is open to everyone and will last about an hour. Drinks will be provided and guests are encouraged to bring a snack or lunch.

Benton’s research focuses on international communication and public diplomacy. Now a faculty member in the Public Relations program, he will talk about American efforts to emphasize attractive aspects of its culture to a world that remains suspect about U.S. motives. Benton will also focus on the vision, goals and shortcomings of current American attempts to change this sentiment through public relations.

“I lived in Austria for six years and worked with the State Department’s worldwide public diplomacy program while I was there,” says Benton. “I helped staff at different embassies better tell the American story of the world community. During this presentation, I plan on exploring U.S. challenges from the perspective of a researcher and practitioner. Through my experience and expertise, the audience will get a better understanding of public diplomacy and the remedy for Anti-Americanism.”
