Fredonia for St. Jude is hosting its annual “Rock Out For Cancer” event in order to raise money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., on Friday, March 28 in Steele Hall from 7 to 10 p.m.

The event, which is open to faculty and students, will include performances from Fredonia’s beloved campus groups Premium Blend, Much More Chill, Step Team, The Riveters, The Guerrillas and The Brister Boys. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the SUNY Fredonia Ticket Office or at the door.

“Rock Out for Cancer,” created by a former Fredonia for St. Jude president, is unique to SUNY Fredonia. A hockey stick and two t-shirts signed by the Buffalo Sabres, along with various gift baskets, will be raffled off at the event. A table will be available for participants to make cards or pictures for the kids of St. Jude that will be sent to the hospital.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will be sent directly to St. Jude. Students are able to give an additional donation, and purchase merchandise such as bracelets, sunglasses and t-shirts during the event.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital believes no families should have to pay for treatment, housing, food and other various expenses. It takes $1.8 million dollars to run St. Jude each day, and it is funded solely on donations from groups such as Fredonia for St. Jude.
