The Fredonia women's volleyball team took down a winless Capital team, then fell to a ranked Ithaca squad on Saturday. Junior SallyAnne Rudny (Jamestown/Southwestern) accumulated 29 kills on the day.

In the opener, Rudny had 19 of the Devils' 39 kills as Fredonia won 25-20, 25-14, and 25-20. Amanda Mosack (Webster/Webster Schroeder) had 33 assists.

Emily Jones (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic) and Rachel Aiello (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) each had three aces. Aiello also led the team with 10 digs.

The 19th ranked Bombers dropped Fredonia in straight sets, 25-21, 25-18, and 25-11. Rudny had 10 kills in a losing effort.

Aiello had 11 digs.

Capital and Ithaca also faced off, with the Bombers getting the better of Capital, too, winning (25-9, 25-12, and 25-11).

Ithaca (9-5) opened the day's action with its most dominant hitting effort of the season racking up 47 kills in the three sets, posting a season-high .528 hitting percentage. Capital fell to 0-15.

The Blue Devils now stand at 11-6 and travel to new Paltz next weekend for Round 2 of Pool Play. They take on Oswego, Potsdam, and Oneonta.
