On Thursday, Jan. 1 at 5 p.m. London time, Associate Professor Roderick Macdonald will be a trumpeter in a live television broadcast of Beethoven's 9th Symphony seen across Europe. He will perform with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the world's oldest classical orchestra, from London's Barbican Symphony Hall.
The concert is being recorded and will be available in the springtime as a cd production from the DECCA Music Group (www.deccaclassics.com).
Professor Macdonald has been on a leave of absence this semester, working on the newly created International Music Institute of Leipzig, a project in associtation with the School of Music.
Fredonia students will have the opportunity to participate in International Music Institute of Leipzig beginning this summer.
