In “slush” conditions, 187 participants took part in early morning run around Ring Road to raise $2,700 for the Xylia Peterson Memorial Fund.

The Slush Rush is the annual 5K run sponsored by the International Education Center on campus to benefit the scholarship fund for full-time junior and senior international students. The endowment was created as a memorial to alumna and former international ed student, Xylia Peterson, ’85.

The overall winner this year was Chris Shartrand with a time of 17:08. The event’s main sponsors included: Brigham Road Apartments; NRG; Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York; Tracy Bennet, CPA; and IHS Associates.

“We also received a ton of support from the local business that donated raffle prizes,” said International Education intern Kate Fassl. “We would not have been able to donate as much to the scholarship fund had it not been for the generous sponsorships and donations.”
