“Moons, Mountains and Masterpieces: A Portrait of an Artist,” a documentary by Assistant Professor of Communication Roslin Smith, was screened in December at the inaugural Sweet As Film Festival in Montreal, Canada.
The 15-minute film presents a video portrait of local landscape artist Tom Annear, exploring his artistic process, work, exhibitions, goals and aspirations. Mr. Annear’s paintings celebrate the beauty and history of local agricultural communities through the unique geography, weather patterns and natural resources of Western New York.
“Moons, Mountains and Masterpieces: A Portrait of an Artist” is part of a video triptych by Ms. Smith, whose second artist portrait is almost completed. The third installment is to follow this spring.
Smith’s film was honored by being designated for screening outside of America by the Canada-based festival, which is run by professional filmmakers.
