Blue Devils on the road

Student athletes in baseball, lacrosse, softball, swimming and diving, and track and field will be busy, however.

The University of Minneapolis Aquatic Center is the site of the NCAA Swimming and Diving championships, where two Fredonia Blue Devils -- freshman Sarah Ficarro and senior Christian Torres -- qualified to compete March 17-20. They will be accompanied by diving coach John Crawford and swim coach Arthur Wang. According to Athletic Director Greg Prechtl, "Earning a spot at nationals is very difficult. To get two divers is quite an accomplishment."

Fredonia athletes who qualify will also compete at the NCAA Indoor Championship for track and field at DePauw University's Indoor Center in Greencastle, Ind., March 12-13. So far, Nick Guarino will be competing at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field championships as he currently has the fastest time of any Division III athlete in the nation in the mile.

The Men's Baseball and Women's Softball teams will participate in the Gene Cusic Classic at Fort Myers, Fla., from March 11-19.

Women's Lacrosse will play at the Spring Fling at West Palm Beach, Fla., March 12-16.
