The Fredonia Technology Incubator will launch its third Student Business Competition with a kick-off event on Thursday, Nov. 9, 4 to 6 p.m. at the incubator, 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The annual competition provides the opportunity for Fredonia students to submit a business proposal and compete for office space, a business mentor and incubator support services.
At the event, students will be able to meet incubator staff, entrepreneur in residence and interns and last year’s business competition winner, Nexnest. Pizza and refreshments will be provided and a $25 Wal-Mart gift card will be given away.
“We have very talented entrepreneurs at our university and this competition will provide our students with a direct pathway to starting a business,” said Chuck Cornell, incubator director. “This competition also will promote retention of talent in our community.”
Transportation will be provided to and from campus by incubator client AAL-In Transport, courtesy of the incubator. To schedule a ride, call or text Matt Cortes at 716-467-5823.
Attendees are encouraged to R.S.V.P. online; walk-ins are also welcomed.
The incubator, part of Fredonia’s Division of Engagement and Economic Development, promotes economic growth in Western New York by supporting entrepreneurship and the development of new, innovative companies into successful business ventures.
