Volunteers from the SUNY Fredonia Health Professions Club will serve as sighted guides for the upcoming “Dining in the Dark” fundraiser. The dinner will be on Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m., at the Chautauqua Suites in Mayville.

Guests of “Dining in the Dark” will be immersed in a unique dining experience by eating dinner blindfolded. The student volunteers will prepare for the event by blindfolding each other and simulating the perceptions of the attendees. Volunteers will learn how to hold guest’s arms, to seat them and to instruct where their meal is on the plate.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Chautauqua Blind Association, a foundation dedicated to help visually impaired people be active members of their community. For more information on the event, contact the association at 716-664-6660.
