The SUNY Fredonia 2013-2014 Phonathon, held October to November and February to April provides a great opportunity for students to earn money, learn basic telemarketing skills, and help the university raise money. Coordinated by Director of Development Tim Murphy of the Fredonia College Foundation, with senior Adam LaQuier as Phonothon Manager, callers contact alumni and parents on behalf of the foundation to raise money for scholarships, and other academic and enrichment programs.
Qualities sought are energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude, as well as good communication skills.
Calling takes place Sunday through Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. during the Phonathon periods in the fall and spring, and although scheduling is flexible, students are expected to work two or three nights per week.
The call center is conveniently located in Thompson Hall (W207 - Media Center computer lab) on campus and training is provided to students.
The pay rate starts at $7.25 per hour.
