An academic organization, MACLAS holds a yearly conference where faculty members and students share their research in Latin America through the presentation of papers. Only papers examined and approved by a scholarly committee are presented at these conferences. This year the site of the conference was the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA.

The MACLAS is a regional organization of scholars who are interested in researching and teaching Latin America and Inter-American relations. Its members consist of faculty and university students interested in Latin American studies from broad perspective: political science, economics, history, language and anthropology. Some members are particularly interested in the political, economic and cultural relations between United States and Latin America.
