The Women's Student Union will host the annual Take Back the Night event Wednesday, Oct. 17, beginning at 8 p.m. in Thompson W101. Everyone is invited. This consciousness-raising event seeks to encourage respect for all persons by providing a safe space for victims of abuse, assault and rape to share their stories during a "speak out".
Brief introductory remarks and a short skit by Students Teaching Equals Positive Sexuality (STEPS) will be followed by the speak out: anyone may come forward to speak.
The event will end this year with a candlelight vigil at the Peace Pole, and a moment of silence for Alexandra Kogut, the first-year student brutally beaten and murdered at SUNY Brockport two weeks ago.
