SUNY Fredonia seeks an Assistant Director for Web Communications to manage, design, and maintain its dynamic web presence in support of strategic goals in marketing, recruitment, and fundraising. Reporting to the Director of Media Relations, the assistant director will:
- Design the university website and establish “house style” (consulting with Publications)
- Manage, post and edit content to the website’s Top Tier
- Chair the campus-wide web steering committee
- Introduce new technologies and interactive experiences across the site
- Develop and maintain an interactive online alumni community
- Optimize architecture for navigability
- Create relational databases and forms for selected data-driven solutions
- Create graphics and other resources for branding and for use by web authors across campus
- Coordinate with IT in areas of server and database administration and CMS solutions
Project Management will be expected in areas of
- online giving and e-mail marketing strategies for Advancement
- updating website design
- ordering photography for the Top Tier
- maintaining web cams
- up-to-date virtual tours
- long-term e-marketing objectives and overall vision.
The ideal candidate will be a team leader and self-starter who possesses a thorough knowledge of and facility with HTML, CSS, ASP and ASP.Net, SQL databases, cross-browser compatibility, Section 508 (accessibility), work of the W3C, web usability, search engine positioning, interpretation of server logs, “skinning” for CMS and portal applications, application of software and techniques to create web graphics, adapting publications to a website format (not PDF), writing for the web, aesthetics and ergonomics of hypertext, internet protocol and web etiquette, and ability to produce attractive web pages.
Education and experience: Minimum of bachelor’s degree and three to five years’ experience in web page development, design, writing, and editing. Must have proven experience in leadership, and in communicating through writing or graphic design.
Salary: $41,000 to $45,000, with excellent benefits package.
