All customers of the Village of Fredonia water system in the Village of Fredonia, including the university, and in town of Pomfret must continue to boil water until further notice. The boil order will continue through AT LEAST Tuesday, Oct. 24.
Reminder: bring tap water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute, and cool before using, or use bottled water certified for sale by the New York State Department of Health. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and preparing food and infant formula until further notice.
The Faculty Student Association (FSA) will continue to boil all water for cooking prior to use. All hot coffee beverages meet the health department standard for purification due to the brewing temperature of 180-190 degrees so we will still be in business with hot beverages. All cold beverages, including mixed Starbucks and Tim Hortons and Pepsi fountain drinks will continue to be shut down.
Reminder: Do not drink from water fountains in campus buildings, and bring your own water bottle to class or your office. RAs and RDs will continue to coordinate water for the residence halls. Also, there are coolers of potable water in the dining halls to fill water bottles.
According to Fredonia Mayor Landis, "It is the CCHD (Chautauqua County Health Department) that will advise us as to when (the advisory) should be lifted. However, as our system is totally repaired there is no need to conserve water."
Again, your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
