Welch’s/National Scholarships have been awarded to two incoming freshmen at SUNY Fredonia, Alissa M. Cole of Fredonia, N.Y., and Elizabeth Martin of Sheridan, N.Y. Each received a $1,100 award for the 2009-10 academic year.
Ms. Cole is a 2009 graduate of Fredonia Central School. She will begin her bachelor’s degree program in childhood education this fall. She is the daughter of John and Rosanne Cole. Her mother has been employed by National Grape Cooperative for the past 22 years and is currently manager of administrative services.
Ms. Martin is a 2009 graduate of Silver Creek Central School. She will begin her bachelor’s degree program in biology with a pre-veterinary concentration this fall. Her parents, Dean and Marcie Martin, are managers of Fruit Farms, Inc.
Welch’s and the National Grape Cooperative endowed the scholarship with the Fredonia College Foundation for students at SUNY Fredonia who are the children or grandchildren of employees or members.
