The Western New York Chamber Orchestra concludes its Mozart-themed Classic Series at SUNY Fredonia on Sunday, March 27, with “Cosi fan Tutte” at 4 p.m. in King Concert Hall. A preconcert talk will be held at 3 p.m. in the Art Gallery lobby.
“Cosi fan Tutte" — which is roughly translated as “All Women are like that” — is set in 18th century Naples and tells of the trials and tribulations of love. The debut performance came on Jan. 26, 1790, in Vienna.
The Western New York Chamber Orchestra will be joined by members of the SUNY Fredonia voice department in presenting the staged concert version of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s classic opera.
This lighthearted work has some of the most sublime music ever penned by the composer and tells a humorous and beautiful story about family, love and life.
Angela Haas directs this production and the WNYCO musicians, led by Maestro Glen Cortese, will accompany a talented cast of School of Music opera students.
