Dr. Andrew Moon, visiting professor at the University of Missouri, will deliver a research talk, “A New Evil Demon Problem for Internalism,” on Thursday, April 12, 5 p.m., at 105 Fenton. His introductory talk, “How to Respond to Religious Disagreement,” will be given Friday, April 13, at noon in 105 Fenton. Epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy of religion and ethics comprise Moon’s research areas.
Dr. Kate Manne, a junior fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows, will deliver her introductory talk, “Where in the World is Morality,” on Thursday, April 23, at noon at 101 Jewett. It will be followed by “You Ought to Have a Reason,” a research talk, at 5 p.m. in 105 Fenton. Manne, who earned her doctorate in Philosophy at MIT, will soon begin a tenure-track position at Cornell.
“The papers submissions were extremely high quality this year, and I'm very excited about the three that we've picked,” said Philosophy professor Andrew Cullison.
The Young Philosophers lecture series is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, Fredonia Philosophical Society and Philosophy Department. Two presentations by University of Notre Dame graduate student Alexander Skiles opened the series this spring in March. Skiles’ talks were: “How Metaphysics Can Increase the Number of Your Friends a Millionfold,” and “Getting Grounded,” a research talk.
