The last International Brown Bag event will feature a presentation on SUNY Fredonia's "Youth Filmmaking Project in Turkey." The event is Monday, May 4, from noon to 12:50 in the Fenton Hall English Reading room (Fenton 127).
Communication Department faculty Nefin Dinc and Ted Schwalbe are in the midst of a major U.S. State Department grant that involves teaching Turkish youth to use video to make short films about important social issues in Turkey. The project, which takes place in six cities, began last July and continues through next January.
Professor Dinc is in Turkey this academic year coordinating the instructional components.
At the final brown bag for this academic year, Dr. Schwalbe will discuss how SUNY Fredonia received the grant as well as project activities to date.
In August, 18 of the students will spend two weeks at SUNY Fredonia working with our students and equipment to put the finishing touches on their films. There will also be a public screening of the films.
